'Young boy shot, caught up in gang violence'
13 year old Mathew Armstrong was shot in Kirkby trying to protect his older sister from hooded
youths.
The trouble was said to have started when rivalry sparked between two gang related families.
The youths pulled the gun on the two of them when they were on the way to see their cousin, local
drug dealer, Carl Armstrong.
Mathew, or Matty as he's known, jumped in front of his sister and tried to reason with them, showing
no mercy they shot him twice in the chest.
He later died in hospital due to the damage done to his lungs, with his siter by his side.They were
said to have been very close to each other.
Police have now shut the case due to lack of evidence, all their leads have dried up.

days in summer 07 we would spend on the extension roof chillin n kikin it! walkin the dogs n checkin
the gals!!
when I herd that u had been shot I jst couldnt believe it, it didn sink in until our birthday n I
had no one to share it wit, no one to blow all the candles out b4 I had the chance init!
I love u lad, life wont never be the same without u!
